Friends, adventure, and discovery are just some of the many things our 2015 Summer Camp Green Team hopes to bring to youth and young adults from around the world when Columbia’s Learn English and Discover Canada program begins in a few weeks.

On Wednesday, June 10th, Columbia’s Junior Middle School (JMS) students starred in their own production of Aesop’s Fables as their year-end drama project. Held in the Ainsliewood Drama room, students held two afternoon shows where they performed a selection of the famous fables for their peers, teachers, and staff.

Columbia International College was recently recognized for its business contributions to the City of Hamilton. Yesterday, Executive Director, Mr. Clement Chan, accepted a Business Appreciation Award on behalf of the school during a City Council meeting last night at Hamilton’s City Hall. Ms. Klodt’s grade 12 biology students have been busy discovering the world of natural sciences and living organisms through a series of experiential learning opportunities. On Friday, June 5, students visited the Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada and were guests at McMaster University’s Biology Greenhouse on Monday, June 8.

Columbia’s Junior Middle School (JMS) students are preparing to celebrate the end of their school year and have been hard at work completing year end projects in a number of their classes. They have also been practicing their presentation and public speaking skills as they prepared to showcase their work to staff and students.

The 2015 Ontario Secondary School Literacy course (OLC40) will begin this week at Columbia. The course is designed for those students who were unsuccessful in writing the OSSLT in March. Students who pass the course will meet the provincial literacy requirement and will be eligible to graduate.

Our summer semester has begun and our Student Development team is busy organizing a number of fun activities and events. Students will have the opportunity to participate in trips, community service events and in school activities all month long. Check out the great events happening this month;

Last semester, Ms. Pivniceru’s Writer’s Craft class received a heartfelt message from renowned Canadian author Lawrence Hill.

Beginning today -Monday, May 25- school tutors will be available in school and in residence for students enrolled in summer semester classes.
